2019 Hillside Zinfandel

Dry Creek Valley

Winemaker's Notes

Our 2019 vintage originates from our Hillside vineyard, located on the Eastern facing slope behind our tasting room. The grapes were hand-picked at 25.5 degrees Brix, they were then sorted, and the clusters were 100% de-stemmed. After a 5-day cold soak, BDX yeast was used to start fermentation and the wine was either pumped over or punched down 2 to 3 times per day. A portion of the lot was fermented in open top fermenters while the other half fermented in stainless steel. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in 40% new French Oak for 3 years before being blended and bottled.

Tasting Notes

Rich and yet refined, the 2019 Hillside Zinfandel shows aromas of green tea and dried roses followed by red cherry on the palate. The tartness of fruit balances with hints of black pepper and sweet aromas of sandalwood. The three years in oak barrel gives this wine a soft mid palate finish with fruit and subtle tannins. This is everyone’s favorite wine with a rich tomato sauce and pasta, and perfect for grilled flank steak topped with Gorgonzola.
