2019 Corner Pocket Cabernet Sauvignon

Estate, Dry Creek Valley

Winemaker's Notes

Our 2019 Corner Pocket Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a block on the north end of the estate property in Southern Dry Creek Valley. The vineyard honors Charles Kreck, father of Bill and grandfather of winemaker Jeremy, who used to call this section of the property the "corner pocket" and the name has forever stuck. The grapes were harvested by hand in the early morning of October 24th, 2019.  The grapes were crushed and allowed to cold soak on their skins for 4 days.  This process lends more flavor and color to be extracted from the fruit. During the early fermentation this wine is manually punched down multiple times a day.  After the wine completed malolactic fermentation, it was barreled down in 33% new French Oak for 3 years. The wine was bottled April 20, 2022.

Tasting Notes

This Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautiful deep color, with aromas of ripe dark berry, cedar, and clove. The flavors will follow the bouquet, offering hints of currant on the palate. The tannins and spice from barrel aging led to finish of sweet and savory long pepper along the mid. The wine is delicious now but will show elegantly as its ages for several more years.  This cabernet will enhance any nice grilled steak, rack of lamb, or pepper crusted Ahi.
