2019 Roller's Song Cabernet Sauvignon

Alexander Valley

Winemaker's Notes

This Roller’s Song Cabernet Sauvignon was picked in late October  2019. As usual with the Kreck Estate vineyard, this fruit was hand harvested.  This fruit came in at a perfectly ripe 26.2 brix and was fermented in stainless steel for 19 days. The grapes were then pressed and barreled down after a week of stainless-steel exposure, into 20% new French oak. This wine was aged in barrels for 37 months before bottling, allowing it the time to settle within the oak and create a balanced and toned wine, really expressing the fruit, natural ripeness and engaging tannic structure.

Tasting Notes

The “Roller Song” name is a nod to Yvonne's father, who raised German Roller Canaries on the Kreck Estate property in the 1940s and 1950s.

The nose on this wine is classic Cabernet Sauvignon showing ripe Bing cherry and Blackberry with  defined spice. The mid-pallet shows nicely balanced wine, reflecting spiced currant, red fruit, and dark chocolate. The tannins offer a rich mouth feel complementing this wine’s finish. While delicious now, this wine will age well over the next few years.

Pair with Bleu or Gorgonzola cheese, red meat, rack of lamb or roasted duck.
